We shared the car with 4 other people: Jeanette and Jeroen (a Bolivian-Dutch couple) and Rita and Herlon (a Brazilian couple).
Our first stop was the Salar, it is the largest in the world, and is at 3600m. On a small island were the salt is processed, this woman explained us the salt process. It's very primitive and simple, and thou she was concerned about us making films for "copy right" reasons.
The houses are made of salt blocks, very tasty!
Since this is the rainy season, the salar was completely covered by water. The landscape is really wonderfull and sometimes you don't see the horizon because of the reflection of the sky on the water.
After the salar we went back to the town, where we took a look at the "train cementery". The rail system was used in the 1870's during the pacific war and the trains have been deposited here since 1945.
In the evening we went to our hostel, that was very rustical. At first we didn't know that we were supposed to share room with our "car mates". But at the end it was kind of funny and we made a great friendship.
