Day 35 Pisac - Sacred valley

The sacred valley is just about 1 hour drive from Cuzco and is full of small villages combining colonial and Inca architecture. We went to the village of Pisac, where they were preparing carnaval. One of the favourite games for carnival here, is to throw water at each other, so the kids have the most sophisticated water guns! Another carnaval tradition is to plant "piñata" trees on different parts of the parks. Men and women dance and men try to cut the tree for the gifts to fall down. One of the gifts was hygienic towels for women as you can see on the picture.

The terraces of Pisac cover whole montains and are very well conserved.

In this kind of places you always find people from different religions and beliefs. Here a group of US-Americans making the "sun ceremonial"

As mentioned in other posts, one doesn't yet know the techniques that were used by the Incas for the cutting and rounding the edges of the stones (the weight of these stones is so huge, that current techniques would not be able to assemble them)
