Day 75-77 URUGUAY Montevideo

Montevideo is one of the best surprise of the whole trip! The place is really worth a visit! The city has a real European feeling, the people are relax and the place is quite safe.

To add to the European feeling, some familiar French banks are on the way...

Our first stop is a flea market in a nice park, definetely, we felt like being back in Montpellier!

We walked on to the habour market, which is the original market hall turned into a gastronomic centre with great Uruguyan meet!

All restaurants have more amazing barbecue shows than the next one!

To finish the meal, we had a unique caramelised crep. The chef claims that it is the best in Uruguay, it was so good we even believed him!

As Montevideo is on a peninsula, it has sea on 3 sides! This is the first side, which is on the Southern tip. On this side of town, the week-end activity is fishing!

On our second day, we first went to a beach on the Western side of the town where we could have great views on the city centre.

We continued to the major activity for the Sunday which is a huge flea market.

We completed our tour of the city by ending up on the Eastern side of town, on a very nice beach on the rich side.

On the third day, we enjoyed a bit more walking in the street, and the came accross the old train station, a huge and very nice one but completely abandonned and forgotten.

Before getting on the bus to Colonia our next stop, we had a huge Uruguayan steak for 8USD!!
