Day 61-62 Caleta Tortel

The further South we get, the harder it gets to keep going South! Today on our mini-van going to Tortel, we are just 4 People for a journey of 120km: the only public transport going this way today...

Tortel is defenitely worth a visit. It is located at a fjord (when sea water enters the continent) with a river that joins the sea. It actually looks like a lake since the mountains stop the waves but you can tell it's the sea because of the tides .

But the special thing about this village is the fact that it's constructed on a very humid terrain, so all houses are built on stilts and so are the paths connecting the houses (There's no road inside the village).

We camped at the end of the village right on the beach and for free!

This is the path that leads to the campsite on the beach.

On our second day, we went on a hike to a nearby hill. As the ground is the same as in the village, most of the path is on wooden planks. We had great views on the fjords, the river and the glaciers.
