Day 8-9 Pacific Coast

One of the things I like most about South America is the fact that you can go to a complete different world in very short distances. The region of Chocó, on the Pacific Coast of Colombia, is a very good example: although it is only 200 km from Medellín, it is a world appart!

Arrival at the airport in Bahía Solano, and transfer to the village of "El Valle"

The region is characterised by 3 main criteria:
- it is one of the wettest places in the world with at least 4000mm and 300 days of rain per year
- it has no land connection to the rest of Colombia and is one of the least developped places
- the population is mainly descendant from African slaves with a few autochtonous communities
In short, getting here is a bit like getting back to Africa...

Yet, the hotel we are arriving to is located on a paradise beach with jungle and freshwater streams, and a very warm sea!

The hotel is an eco-lodge type with wooden chalets in the middle of a tropical vegetation.

But as mentioned, the region is very humid and short after our arrival, the rain started and did not stop for about 24 hours!

les vehicules de transfert de l'aeroport jusqu'au lieu de séjour ressemble à des voitures de guerre
Ca doit être assez dépaysant
Bon voyage à venir
